Over the course of the week, your kids will make a film, engaging in the full film production process themselves. This involves: coming up with a film idea, scripting, storyboarding, making sets, making music, and operating cameras. A copy of the final film will be given to each child, and parents are invited to a Final Screening!

A brief schedule of the camp will look like the following:

STOP FRAME CAMP (July 27-31)

Lunch and recess time is from 11:30 to 12:30 each day. Kids can play board games or we will walk to the park, weather permitting.

MONDAy:

Introductions begin at 9am! Campers are shown sample videos of stop frame animation and become familiar with the concept. Campers are then encouraged to come up with their own ideas, and we all work together to develop a storyline. We then move on to create a storyboard, ensuring that all of our ideas are organized for the next day's work!

TUESDAY:

We start assembling and painting! Everything in our production, from the characters to the set and most props will be made out of recyclable materials. This involves a lot of painting, gluing, and drawing so come to camp with old clothes!

WEDNESDAY:

The day starts off again with more assembling and preparing the set. After lunch, we have time to continue painting, or we will start teaching the kids how to operate cameras and microphones. All of the filming will be done by campers.

THURSDAY:

Stop frame animation is a long and slow process, but it is very exciting! Majority of this day will be taken up in filming. If we are done with time to spare, campers can get a look at the movie editing software. The film will be edited and copies will be made overnight.

FRIDAY:

Friday is the day for our Final Screening! Parents are invited to the screening at 12:30. Until 12:30, campers will prepare for the screening by making snacks, playing games, and making Camp Spotlight t-shirts! Each camper will receive a copy of the production after the Final screening.
